Having announced her departure from Mabala Noise, Gigi Lamayne has taken an interesting turn joining one of the most exciting recording labels in the country, Ambitiouz Entertainment. The move was announced on Monday through the release of a short video on social media.
The video clip, which sees Gigi freestyling, ends with her revealing the Ambitiouz Entertainment logo on a sheet hung up on a washing line. With this much effort being put in already it’s clear to see why the rapper has chosen Ambitiouz. Speaking to a KZN based newspaper, Isolezwe, Gigi revealed the label offered her the kind of contract she was hoping for after finding it difficult to work with Mabala Noise.
She also explained how her move to Ambitiouz was actually derailed by the recording label having another female rapper. Before a bitter ending to their contract, Ambitiouz previously had Fifi Cooper in their ranks.
“There was another female rapper so it wouldn’t have worked out. I then sent them my requests regarding what I’d want on my contract. This went back and forth through lawyers until we finally reached an agreement and I am extremely happy. Now I just want to work and the rest will follow,” she said.
On Thursday last week, the rapper released her first single of the year, titled Iphupho. She revealed she’s excited to work with the caliber of artists signed under Ambitiouz such as La Sauce and Sjava.
“People can expect my album towards the end of the year. This is going to be a good year, I’m with the right company” she shared.
